Pause the stream,
not the show.

LoopCam is a virtual camera for your Mac. Record ten seconds of yourself, loop it, and the stream keeps rolling while you grab water, fix the scene, or handle real life. Hold one key to jump back live, perfectly aligned, with the feed alive the whole time. It slips just as neatly into meetings, but you didn't hear that from us.

The core app is free forever. Pro is one purchase, yours for good.

The bypass, live.

Hold the key, align with the ghost, release. Seamless in both directions.

LoopCam bypass flow demo
Made for going live

Any live feed, paused gracefully.

Ending a stream costs you the audience you spent an hour gathering. LoopCam gives you a pause button that doesn't.

Mid-stream BRB

Drop a clean "be right back" pause without cutting the feed dead. The camera tile keeps breathing, chat keeps scrolling, and you walk away.

Starting soon

Hold a polished loop while viewers file in, then hold the bypass key and open the show live, perfectly aligned with the frame you left on.

Webinars & recordings

Keep a steady presenter frame while you fix slides off-camera, or reset cleanly between takes.

And yes, meetings

The coffee, the door, the toddler. Anywhere a camera picker exists, the same graceful pause applies. We'll say no more.

How it works

Three steps to freedom.

1

Record yourself

Hit record while you're live. Ten seconds of nodding, sipping, existing. LoopCam saves it locally.

2

The loop takes over

The feed switches to your clip starting on the exact frame you just recorded, playing in reverse first. No jump, no flicker, no device change.

3

Hold a key to come back

A safety window shows your live camera, a ghost of the frame the loop will pause on, and a countdown. Align, release, done.

The bypass, frame by frame

Choreographed to the frame.

Holding ⌃ Control starts a precise little dance. Every step is designed so the switch is seamless on both ends.

Features

Built like you'd actually use it mid-call.

Every detail exists because a real broadcast went slightly wrong once.

Record & loop, seamlessly

Stop recording and the loop enters on the very frame you ended on, playing in reverse first. There is no visible cut.

Boomerang looping

Start-over, or back-and-forth playback that hides the loop seam entirely. Pick per your clip in settings.

Ghost alignment

A translucent overlay of the target frame lets you match your position before any switch. Opacity is adjustable.

Predicted landing frame

The loop is deterministic, so LoopCam computes the exact frame it will pause on and shows it to you during the countdown.

Hold-to-bypass

Hold (or double-tap & hold, your choice of key and duration) to go live temporarily. ⇥ Tab commits.

LoopCam MicPRO

An opt-in virtual microphone. While looping, your audience hears the loop's audio; going live snaps back to your real voice, in sync with the video.

Loops with sound

Turn on audio recording and your loops carry your voice, ready to speak through LoopCam Mic. Off by default: silent loops are the safe kind.

Any video as your loopPRO

Load a file instead of recording: "starting soon" screens, pre-produced BRB clips, polished presenter loops.

Camera-off cards

Video "off" broadcasts a clean avatar card, not a suspicious black void. Initials free; your photo and familiar styles in Pro.

Real mic mute

One button mutes your microphone at the system level via CoreAudio. Works no matter what the app on the other end thinks.

The test labPRO

Mirror & rotation changes preview in a separate test window first. Apply pushes them live; Discard pretends it never happened.

Honest broadcast monitor

A docked preview always shows exactly what apps receive. Floats over full-screen apps, never steals focus, global shortcuts for everything.

Camera off, gracefully

A face for when you have no face.

Turning video off broadcasts a proper avatar tile in a style that blends right into the meeting, instead of a black rectangle that screams "I left".

New · audio

The loop can speak now.

Video-only is the default, on purpose. But flip on the LoopCam Mic and your Mac grows a virtual microphone that follows the video wherever it goes.

Pick it like a camera

Select "LoopCam Mic" in OBS, Streamlabs, or Zoom the same way you picked the LoopCam camera. When you're live, it simply passes your real microphone through.

Looping? It speaks

With loop audio opted in, your stream hears the loop's own sound while it plays. Record a clip of yourself talking and the loop talks for you.

One key, both feeds

The bypass key switches audio and video at the same instant. You come back live in picture and in voice, with nothing to fumble.

Everything is opt-in and off by default; a looped cough at the wrong moment is how you get caught. The docs explain the full setup in five minutes.

Under the hood

Modern, native, honest.

CoreMediaIO Camera Extension

The virtual device is a modern CMIOExtension (not a deprecated DAL plugin). The app pushes 1080p/30 BGRA frames into the extension's sink stream; a watchdog serves a placeholder if the app ever goes away. The optional LoopCam Mic is a small native CoreAudio driver. No Electron, no kernel extensions.

Zero network requests

No server, no account, no analytics, no uploads. Recordings are files in ~/Documents/LoopCam. Even the Pro license is a signed key verified on your Mac; the only server involved is the payment page.

Licensing that respects you

One purchase, yours forever. Locked features stay visible with a small PRO badge and never nag. A licensing failure can never break a live camera: everything quietly degrades to the free tier, never to a dialog mid-call.

For breaks, not deception.

Grab water. Fix the lighting. Answer the door. De-escalate the toddler. LoopCam exists because being human for 90 seconds shouldn't cost you a stream you spent an hour warming up. What you do with it is between you and your audience.

FAQ

Fair questions.

Can OBS / Zoom / Meet tell?

They see a normal camera named "LoopCam". Switching between live and loop never disconnects the device, so there's no camera-change event to notice. At worst, a sub-second freeze.

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything is local: recordings go to a folder on your Mac, there's no server, no account, no analytics.

When can I download it?

Soon. The signed, notarized build is in the works. When it lands, the core app is free and the Pro toolkit is a one-time purchase.

What does it cost?

The core app is free forever. The Pro toolkit is a $29.99 one-time purchase, because subscriptions for a camera button are silly. Buy it once and it's yours for good.

Does it loop audio too?

Video-only by default: a looped cough at the wrong moment is how you get caught. For streamers who want it, an opt-in LoopCam Mic (a Pro feature) passes your real microphone through and can play the loop's audio while looping. Going live snaps back to your real voice, in sync with the video. The docs walk through the whole setup.
